Accessibility Statement

Accessibility is an axiom of the theatre process. Or it should be. Accessibility means awareness, education, and equity. Accessibility is raising the standards of the space and process for all to operate fairly. Accessibility is also a journey. It involves learning and growing with the needs of the people in practice. Accessibility is a driving force from the start of any of my processes to the end of closing night. I investigate accessibility through a physical, mental, discursive, and historic lens. I aim to create an equitable space where all artists can test, fail, and grow together.

As one of the Nation's oldest and most unique company's Phamaly prides itself on being, "a creative home for theatre artists with disabilities."

I have had the privilege to be welcomed into Phamaly as a contract Access Coordinator for their production of Rocky Horror.

Spectrum Shakespeare is a non-profit theatre company that operated during the Pandemic, providing a specialized interactive adaption of Macbeth for individuals with autism around the world. This work was extremely meaningful due to the intention to provide connection during a time of isolation.

I was able to begin my formal ASL training in 2021 at DePaul University under the leadership of a Deaf professor. Although I am still a beginner, the knowledge I possess about Deaf culture and history has prompted me to become an advocate. In theatre, there are many valuable moments where non-discursive communication is needed. I prioritize the use and education of ASL in any theatre environment and process.
